In concrete paving block production, the main challenge in outgoing quality control is not knowing what defects to look for. The challenge is maintaining consistent attention across every product position, every production cycle and every shift. UAB Betono mozaika carried out a real-production validation of the QuatroPBC automated inspection system on grey, single-colour concrete paving blocks. The purpose was to evaluate how camera and laser-based inspection performs under actual manufacturing conditions and how it can support daily quality control. The validation covered 100 production cycles with 54 concrete paving block positions per cycle, giving 5,400 assessed positions in total. Manual inspection confirmed 82 defective pieces. QuatroPBC recorded 78 of them, corresponding to a 95.1% defect detection rate. Four defective pieces were not recorded by the system and were classified as N – Did not see a defect, meaning that QuatroPBC did not detect or flag the defect while manual inspection did.
